MHCS Statement of Faith

Medicine Hat Christian School Society believes:

  1. That man, the world, and all purpose are to be ultimately understood only in relation to God.
  2. The Holy Scriptures as originally given by God, divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy and the only supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  3. There is one God eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
  4. In our Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh; His Virgin Birth, His sinless human life, His divine miracles, His death, His resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His mediatory work, and His personal return in power and glory.
  5. That man’s disobedience to his Creator has broken the relationship of man with his Maker.
  6. The salvation of the lost and sinful man through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith apart from works, and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.
  7. In the Holy Spirit whose indwelling enables the believer to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
  8. In the unity of the Spirit of all true believers, the Church, which is the body of Christ.

Teaching for Transformation is a way to uncover and teach Biblical themes in all our subject areas.

Teaching for Transformation helps us:

  • Teach a way of life and moral values in accordance with the Scriptures and to emphasize practical expressions of these values in the school, at home, and in society at large.
  • Foster Christian community and active participation of parents, staff, students, and members of the society.
  • Complement and integrate education and experience of the home, the church, the community, and the school.
  • Honor the Word of God as the ultimate written authority in Devotions, Bible, subject areas, and all aspects of school life.

Teaching for Transformation is:

  • God Worshiping – Glorifying and praising God. Celebrating who God is, what God has done, and created.
  • Idolatry-Discerning – Idols are “things” that become more important than our relationship with God.  Money, TV, success, addictions could be a few examples.
  • Earth-Keeping – God created the world and gives us the opportunity to “manage” and take care of it. It is the challenge of living to balance our wants/needs with those of other people as well.
  • Beauty-Creating – Helps us appreciate diversity, complexity, and the good things around us. Our creativity is a way to explore who we are as people and how we respond to God’s world.
  • Justice-Seeking – The world is not as God intended it to be.  Students will act as agents of change by identifying and responding to injustices.
  • Creation-Enjoying – Looking at, talking about and studying creation.
  • Servant-Working – Serving others and helping to heal brokenness. Bringing joy to other people.
  • Community-Building – Taking an active role in our community to bring people together for a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.
  • Image-Reflecting – Is not something we do. It is something we are. The characteristics we admire in God can also be in us. How do we reflect this?
  • Order-Discovering – There is order and patterns in our universe. It is not just randomness. We encourage students to discover this order.
